Pear

The apple's softer, quieter cousin.

High in soluble fibre (especially pectin) — which is why pears are traditionally recommended for gut health.

Pear is the fruit for the quietly refined — subtly sweet, softly grainy, and dripping with that delicate pear perfume when ripe. Ours are handled gently because pears bruise if you sneeze at them. Eat them fresh, poach them in red wine, pair them with a sharp blue cheese, or slice them over a salad with walnuts and honey. A grown-up fruit for grown-up moments.
